International Day for Persons with Disabilities

The Universitat de València, through its Divina Pastora Chair for Adapted Sports and the Physical Education and Sports Service, organised on last week three actions on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December). In total, 179 people took part at the colloquium, the workshop and the sessions organised by the Chair.

On Thursday 1 December, a colloquium took place under the tag line “Inclusive vocation: physical activity and sport in the Universitat”, which was held in the Assembly Hall of the Aulario V of the UV. This colloquium was distributed in two dialog tables, and the approached issues were “Notes for the colloquium: opportunities for the sportive practice” and “That’s how we perceive it from the practise”. Throughout the morning, an environment that allowed the attendants to share experiences, clear doubts and concerns and provide possible solutions for the suggested problems was created.

On Friday 2 December in the morning, the workshop on O-Precision took place, whose aim was to make the orientation discipline known for the 118 attendants, who thanks to Joaquim Margarido and Niclas Gil got to know the basic principles and objectives of the preparation and development of the test. Once finished the theoretical session, they moved to the Viveros gardens to carry out the practice session.

During the Friday 2 and Saturday 3 December evenings the Sessions on O-Precision took place. An action addressed to a more specific public, whose aim was not only to make the orientation discipline known as in the workshop on Friday, but also to train the technical staff in the design, planning and organisation of the O-Precision tests. Joaquim Margarido and Niclas Gil directed again the theoretical and practical sessions held during those two days.

The members of the Divina Pastora Chair of Adapted Sports Universitat de València were very happy for the successful participation in these three actions and showed their firm interest in continuing the design of activities and training actions that promote the study of adapted sports.
