The head of the Technology and Systems section of the Library and Documentation Service and responsible for the migration of the program, José Enrique Ucedo, analyzes the novelties and functionalities offered by the new Alma program introduced last July.

Alma is the next generation cloud-hosted service platform that represents an evolution towards new forms of management and, above all, towards greater integration of functions. It is specially designed to group resources, electronic and printed, with a guarantee of robustness and efficiency. As explained by the head of section José Enrique Ucedo, this will facilitate the tasks of librarians in improving workflows in the management of university collections, both printed and electronic.

Students and professors of the University of Valencia will access the new system through the catalog of the Library and Documentation Service. Its name will continue to be Trobes, but it will offer a better service to the university community without forgetting the functionalities of the previous catalog.

The new Trobes will allow global searches from a single point in own resources and in a large number of external resources, many in full text. It will also inform you of the availability and location of the documents, as well as allow access to "My Account" in order to manage loans, renewals, reservations, etc.

This program is part of a dynamic of continuous improvement that will allow us to offer new services and be more efficient in the services already offered by the Library and Documentation Service.
