The Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government) has declared the official mourning in the Valencian Community this Sunday 19 April as a sign of respect, mourning and recognition for the people who have lost their lives because of the COVID-19. The Universitat de València participates in this declaration and joins the invitation to maintain, at noon this Sunday, three minutes of silence on the balconies of the houses.

The Council of the Generalitat Valenciana agreed, last April 17, the institutional declaration of mourning in the Valencian Community for the victims of the COVID-19.

This agreement, published in the Official Gazette of the Valencian Government, has been adopted 'as a sign of respect, mourning and recognition for the people who have lost their lives as a result of COVID-19'.

In addition, 'to remember the victims of this pandemic and honour their memory', the Generalitat Valenciana has called for 'three minutes of silence on Sunday 19 April at noon, when all the Valencians can express their condolences by going out onto the balconies, in silence, for three minutes'.

The Universitat de València participates in this declaration and the Principal, Maria Vicenta Mestre, has issued an invitation to join the call of the Council, keeping each of the people who make up the university community, three minutes of silence on the balconies and windows of their homes, this Sunday at noon.
