The inauguration of this 20th edition will be on Monday 2nd October at 12:00 in the entry of the School of Engineering, ETSE-UV. It will start with the visit to all the facilities and the offer of a glass of wine at 13:30 at the Campus Cafeteria.

The aim of the Universitat de València with Public Art/Public University is to change its environment into an artistic intervention place opened to society. This activity started in the academic course 1997-1998 and has been organised, since then until the 18th edition, by the current manager of Consorci de Museus, José Luis Pérez Pont. In this edition there are among other changes, the novelty of promoting reflection about the binomial art and science because, according to the rules of the announcement, the pieces should highlight one of the several possibilities that the relation between artistic creation and science offers. Public Art/Public University is an occasion to bring science closer to artistic reflection. Furthermore, it implies an approximation of the conceptualism of the contemporary art to the scientific methodology.

The show is organised by the Information and Promotion Service (SeDi) with the collaboration of the Office for the Vice-Principal of Culture and Equity. The coordinator Alba Braza, together with Salomé Cuesta, director of the Department of Sculpture of the Universitat Politècnica de València, the artist Carlos Domingo, the technician Maite Ibáñez, the Sedi director Charo Álvarez, and the Students delegate Jordi Caparrós, all from the Universitat de València, have been the people in charge of selecting the pieces, which have been awarded with 2.000 euro each one. The selected artists are the following: Anaisa Franco, Cristian Gil Gil, Ernesto Casero, Laura Palau, Ainhoa Salas and Guillermo Lechón.

The pieces that will be shown in the Burjasot- Paterna Campus are:

Anaisa Franco: Frustración, de la serie Psychosomàtic, 2012. TV LCD, ordenador, cámara Kinect, software electrónico (50 x 40 x 100 cm).

Cristian Gil Gil: Cau de coneixement, 2017. Raices de naranjo (320 x 85 cm).

Ernesto Casero: For the Birds, 2017. Vinilo sobre pared (changeable sizes).

Laura Palau: Cámara oscura, 2017. Contenedor marítimo de acero (260 x 600 x 244 cm).

Ainhoa Sala i Guillermo Lechón: Flexivídeo, 2015. Pure Data, sensores de flexión, silicona (changeable sizes).
