The ceremony has been leaded by the rector of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre, along with the  president of the Royal Academy of Medicine of the Valencian Community (RAMCV), Carmen Leal; the general director of Healthcare of the Government of the Valencian Community, Marian García; the eight vice president of the provincial gobernment, Mercedes Berenguer; the president of the Medical Association of Valencia, Mercedes Hurtado; the general secretary of the RAMCV, Juan Viña; and the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Javier Chorro.

The rector Maria Vicenta Mestre  has emphasized 'the pride of being able to be in this act of inauguration of the Royal Academy of Medicine, an institution with renowned  transcendence during its almost 200 years of history'. 

Under the heading 'Anaesthesia, resuscitation and treatment of pain in the field of modern medicine', the RAMCV's senior academic Manuel Barberá gave the inaugural speech, where he gave a walkthrough on the evolution of anaesthesia throughout history and the current challenges it faces within the framework of modern medicine. 

The Royal Academy of Medicine of the Valencian Community, founded in January of 1831, has as its main goal the study and research of medical sciences and related fields throughout the autonomous community.  Furthermore, it also collaborates with health, university and judicial authorities at all levels of the Public Administration, also issuing all medical reports required by any of these official bodies.
