On Monday 25 March, the Paranimf (Main Hall) of the Universitat de València will host the presentation of the book La Transició i Emèrit Bono (Colección Memòria Història). Ramón Lapiedra, former rector of the University of Valencia; Maria Dolors Baixauli, lecturer in Secondary Education; and Emili Marín, coordinator and publisher of the book, will take part in the event, which will begin at 7 p.m. The event is part of the Debates Forum programme and has free entry subject to available seating.

Politicians, journalists, writers and teachers reflect on the Spanish Transition and the figure of the former councillor and honorary professor at the Universitat de València Emèrit Bono.  The 17 participants in the volume include articles by Joan Lerma, Ramon Lapiedra, Isabel Clara Simó, Josep Guia, Alfons Cervera, Adolf Beltran, Rosa Solbes and Ferran Bono, among others. Several voices that come close to the figure of one of the referents of the Valencian left wing as well as to one of the most important moments in the history of the country.

According to Emèrit Bono, this book "shows the problems of the Spanish Transition, the difficulties and criticisms that appeared at the time of the approval of the Constitution, and above all the common effort that the transition from a dictatorship to a democracy entailed, very interesting moments both for the fathers of the Constitution and for those who were against it".

The book, which has a chapter written by Emèrit Bono, not only assesses the Spanish Transition process, but also looks towards the present and opens a possible debate. "It is necessary a reform of the Constitution that we have after more than 40 years.  The current deficiencies are evident, for example in the territorial issue", concludes Bono.
