Discussions on science organised by the ScienceFlows research team at the University of Valencia as part of the PERSIST_EU project will take place through the Blackboard online platform on October29, and November 5, 6 and 7. The goal is to know what university students think about four topics: climate change, vaccines, alternative and complementary medicine and genetically modified organisms. Registration will remain open until October 25 at https://go.uv.es/Ha3MgR8.

Discussions will also take place in Portugal, Italy, Germany and Slovakia and will publicise how the training of university students influences their decision-making. In total, the PERSIST_EU project expected to have the participation of 500 students currently enrolled in any European university. Discussions on October 30 and November were postponed in April as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To participate in ScienceCamp it is necessary to be over 18 years old, study at any Spanish university and register in advance. No prior knowledge is necessary. Although the debate is coordinated by the ScienceFlows research group, students from any Spanish higher education centre can participate. In the discussions, after listening to four experts in each of the areas, students will participate in the discussions on the topics chosen and will be able to draw their own conclusions.

In the registration process, whoever signs up will be able to choose the topic of the discussion in which they want to participate and will receive an email confirming their registration. In the days leading up to the discussions, the student will need to fill out a short questionnaire and receive the link to the Blackboard platform. A sample of candidates will be selected from all applications for participation to represent the diversity of studies of the Spanish university.

The debate on climate change will take place on Thursday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m.; the one on genetically modified organisms, on Thursday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m.; the debate on alternative and complementary medicines will be on Friday, November 6 at 6:00 p.m. and the one on vaccines, on Saturday, November 7 at 11:30 am.
