The philosopher Jesús Conill presents his book ‘Intimidad corporal y persona humana’ at Cultural Centre La Nau

The Professor of Moral and Policy Philosophy in Universitat de València, Jesús Conill, presented on 2nd October his new book ‘Intimidad corporal y persona humana. De Nietzsche a Ortega y Zubiri’ (Tecnos, 2019) at Cultural Centre La Nau, in the framework of activities of Escola Europea de Pensament Lluís Vives.

The work of the Professor Conill proposes a renewal of the philosophy against the naturalized scientism. He suggests a conception of the human being from the corporal intimacy, following the paths after Kant, of Nietzsche, Ortega and Zubiri.

Apart from the author, attended the presentation of the book Antonio Ariño, vice-principal for Culture and Sport; Diego Garcia, Emeritus Professor of Medicine History at the Complutense University of Madrid and the Foundation director Xavier Zubiri; and Adela Cortina, Emeritus Professor of Universitat de València and Foundation Étnor director. 

Jesús Conill is Professor of Moral and Policy Philosophy of the Universitat de València. In 1976, he was Professor of Philosophy at the INEM. He also studied and researched at the universities of München, Bonn, Frankfurt a. M. (Germany), St. Gallen (Switzerland) and Notre Dame (USA). He is also a member of the Board and technical advisor of Fundación Ética de los Negocios y de las Organizaciones (ÉTNOR) and co-director of the continued workshop “Ética económica y empresarial” from Étnor Foundation since 1994. He is founding member of European Business Ethics Network (EBEN) in Spain and member of the research seminar Xavier Zubiri, and member of the governing board of Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País Valencià.

He has written also: “El enigma del animal fantástico”, “El poder de la mentira”, “Nietzsche y la política de la transvaloración”, “Horizontes de economía ética I Ética hermenéutica”, all the work published in Tecnos publishing house.

The Escola Europea de Pensament Lluís Vives is a cultural project, promoted by the Office of the vice-Principal for Culture and Sport and managed by General Foundation of the Universitat de València. It is configured as a space for reflection and participatory and critical debate on current issues. The Escuela has the partnership of actors of the public administration and civil society: Presidence of the Generalitat, the City Hall of Valencia, the Valencian Department of Transparency and Education, Research, Culture and Sports, the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua, the Alfons el Magnànim Institut, the Escola Europea d’Humanitats and the Caixa Popular.
