The exhibition, open until27 May at the Diputació de València, was inaugurated by the president of the Diputació, the principal of the University, the general secretary of UGT-PV and the president of Largo Caballero Foundation.

As part of the the Social Congress that the UGT is holding in Valencia, in parallel with its Confederal Congress, a double exhibition was inaugurated on Monday 17 May at the headquarters of the Diputació de València: a selection of original UGT poster collection from the Second Spanish Republic period in the UV Historical Library, and a selection of posters on occupational health from the 1867-2020 period produced by the Francisco Largo Caballero Foundation.

The president of the Diputació de València, the principal of the University of Valencia, the general secretary of UGT-PV and the president of Largo Caballero Foundation inaugurated this exhibition last Monday 17 May.

According to the president of the Diputació, we find ourselves in a time that requires action, but also reflection and depth of discourse. A reflexive depth that can be found in the messages conveyed in many of the historical posters that make up this exhibition.

Posters were an effective tool for disseminating information in places where, at the end of the 19th century, other media could not reach. Thus, they captured attention and amplified the message, said the president of Largo Caballero Foundation. In this sense, for the exhibition curator, this ability to amplify the message perfectly fits with the objective of preventing workplace risks.

The UV Principal pointed out that the posters preserved in our historical library allow us to see how posters were a type of artistic piece that combined multiple resources and Art Déco stylizations. They were expressionist components that had a marked tendency towards realism that bring new avenues of technical fusion, from drawing to photography and photomontage.

Principal Maria Vicenta Mestre used her speech to highlight the importance of public services and the need to defend and support them, as well as to pay tribute to all those who fought in defence of freedom and democracy.

This exhibition can be visited until 27 May at the headquarters of the Diputació de València, in the Plaça de Manises.
