Presentation of the Universo Sostenible series’ new season

The Sala Matilde Salvador of the Centre Cultural La Nau of the Universitat de València has held, all Monday 7th morning, the presentation of the 9th season of Universo Sostenible that will be screened as of 9th October in La Aventura del Saber in the TV channel La 2 de TVE.

The session was presided by Maria Vicenta Mestre, principal of Universitat de València; Francisco Mora, principal of the Universitat Politècnica de València and vice-president of CRUE-Universidades Españolas; Paloma Domingo, Director of Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT); Francisco Javier González, the executive producer of La Aventura del Saber of La 2 de TVE channel; and Miquel Francés, president of Grupo de Trabajo de Audiovisuales and Multimedia of CRUE-Universidades Españolas and director of Taller de Audiovisuales, series producer.

Universo Sostenible is an audio-visual format in which 31 Spanish universities belonging to CRUE participate coordinated by the group work of Contenidos Audiovisuales y Multimedia of Crue-Comunicación of the Spanish universities. These institutions have co-produced the second season of the series, in collaboration with FECYT. It is a project that researches of the college scientific community replied to some main topics of social interest.

During the presentation of the second season, the executive producer of La Aventura del Saber has announced that the first episode will take place on 9th October 2019 at 10:30 am on La 2 de TVE, starting the weekly screening of this informational audio-visual content.

As part of the presentation has been screened exclusively the first episode of the new season. Then, the participants have discussed about the importance of an innovative format like this, based on the dissemination of knowledge and focused on the increase of the information and the knowledge of the Spanish society.

After the episode screening, Francisco Javier González has claimed, against the economic value of the screening in private media, the courage of the screening in public service such as La Aventura del Saber. Miquel Francés has analysed the context of the multicasting where the TV programme belongs to, as well as the added value of the interest of this kind of content. Then, Paloma Domingo has pointed out the increase of spontaneous interest in science according to FCYT data, and the vice-president of CRUE-Universidades Españolas has highlighted the danger of pseudo-scientific contents in the media.  On the other hand, the principal has thanked to 31 Spanish universities, FECYT, CRUE and La Aventura del Saber their commitment with a dissemination project such as Universo Sostenible. Additionally, she wanted to emphasize the importance of the research in the public university system and their results of scientific nature, the dissemination and mainly, the knowledge transfer to society.
