The President of the Valencian Government, Ximo Puig, indicated that we should take advantage of the “Valencian moment” in the 17th Employment and Entrepreneurship Forum inauguration. The Forum will take place on the 14 and 15 of February at the Faculty of Economics of the Universitat de València. It includes more than 40 activities.

Ximo Puig indicated that we are living in the proper moment to create employment, but there is still work to do before being completely satisfied. In addition, it is necessary that the salaries are decent.

The Principal of the Universitat de València Esteban Morcillo indicated that the Faculty of Economics outstands in every ranking. He insisted that modern public universities must be interested in the students’ occupational options.

The councillor of the Sustainable Economic Development Area, Sandra Gómez, reminded that she had participated as a student in a forum organized by the Faculty of Economics and this way she obtained her first job.

The bank sector has been and will be a natural ally of economic and business studies.  The main financing entities of the country are present in this edition of the Forum, such as BBVA, Banco Santander, Banc Sabadell, Caixa Popular and Caixa Ontinyent. They present their employment programmes and internships.  The world of finances counts with the participation of Banco Mediolanum and Fundación de Estudios Bursátiles y Financieros.

Successful companies won’t miss the opportunity to show their commitment with training and talent in the forum. The insurance sector appears in the forum thanks to the participation of Mapfre and AXA. This sector has several professional possibilities that require a solid basis of economic and business knowledge.

The forum is an opportunity for people who are interested in entrepreneurship. This is due to the intervention of the Science Park of the Universitat de València. In addition, there is a session on the development of entrepreneurship aptitudes as a key for business success which will be imparted by Centro Internacional Santander Emprendimiento. There is also a session imparted by Lanzadera aiming to unveil the keys to create the perfect team in a start-up. Entrepreneurs will be able to know the main support mechanisms of Sociedad de Garantía Recíproca and the financing sources for emerging companies of Banco Santander. They can visit the UV young entrepreneurs’ stands at the Córner del Emprendedor.

As every year, bar and professional associations will attend the forum. They teach students what working in these areas is like.  The Colegio de Economistas de Valencia, the Colegio Oficial de Titulares Mercantiles y Empresariales, the Colegio Oficial de Agentes Comerciales and the Colegio Profesional de Mediadores de Seguros y la Asociación Profesional de Asesores Fiscales de la Comunidad Valenciana will be present at the forum.

The University has its own services that back up students’ employability. They also attend the Forum this year. The offer is completed by the Language Centre, the Observatorio de Inserción Profesional y Asesoramiento Laboral OPAL, the institutional and business chairs and the Foundation Universidad-Empresa ADEIT, which offers its internship and entrepreneurship promotion programmes.

The Employment and Entrepreneurship Forum at the Universitat de València has become stabilised as a reference among other employment university forums in the Valencian Community. This consolidation has been achieved thanks to the prestige of the sponsoring companies and the large and diverse programme of activities.

It is expected that 5,000 people, mostly students, will attend the forum during these two days, just like in the 2017 edition.
