Principal Maria Vicenta Mestre in the Top 100 Women Leaders in Spain in 2019

The ranking of the Top 100 Mujeres Líderes (Top 100 Women Leaders) in Spain held yesterday the 8th edition of its gala with the purpose of giving visibility to the female talent and claiming the access of women to decision-making spaces.

The Principal of the Universitat, Maria Vicenta Mestre, was recognised on Monday, November 25th, as one of Las Top 100 Mujeres Líderes (Top 100 Women Leaders) in Spain in the category Public Function, Institutional and Politics of this ranking.

Along with the Principal from the Universitat de València M.ª Vicenta Mestre, in the category Public Function, Institutional and Politics were also recognised the Spanish Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles; the Secretary of State for Equality, Soledad Murillo; the judge of the Fifth Chamber of the Supreme Court of Spain, Clara Martínez de Clareaga; the the High Commissioner for Agenda 2030, Cristina Gallach; the Leading Women of World Business for Council for Sustainable, Gabriela Uriarte; the Director of the Office of the European Parliament in Spain, María Andrés; captain of the Spanish military police, María José Garrido; the President of UNESPA Unión Española de Entidades Aseguradoras y Reaseguradoras (UNESPA, Spanish Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Entities), Pilar González de Frutos; and the Commander of the Spanish military police, Silvia Gil.

The gala also recognised other outstanding women in the categories of Academics and Researchers, Top Management, Culture, Leisure and Sport, Directors, Entrepreneurs, Media, Thinkers and Experts, Revelation and Entrepreneurs and Tertiary Sector. Some of the most renowned names were the Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Anna Lluch, the journalists Ana Rosa Quintana, Carmen Chaparro, Sandra Sabatés and Sonsoles Ónega, the actress Maribel Verdú, the sportswomen Gisela Pulido and Ana Peleteiro, the president of Mujeres por África and former vice-president of the Spanish Government, M.ª Teresa Fernández de la Vega.

Promoted by Mujeres & CiaLas Top 100 Mujeres Líderes in Spain has the main objective of giving visibility to female talent in order to build a society based on equal opportunities for everybody.  In 2011 the first ranking of Top 100 Women Leaders in Spain was launched and since then the initiative has not stopped growing to encourage diversity and highlight the role of the elected women in the public sphere. In the past seven editions, more than 60 companies involved in promoting a plural and diverse society have relied on the initiative.
