Andrea Bombi

Professor of the Universitat de València, Andrea Bombi, has been selected to be part of the management of the International Musicology Society (IMS) for five years. Bombi is a musicologist that has taken the position of Álvaro Torrente, professor of the Complutense University of Madrid. From 19 to 23 March the IMS congress has been held in Tokyo.

The researcher was one of the promoters of the Congress on the History of Music at the Valencian Country- Intersections that was carried out last October at the Faculty of Geography and History. 

Andrea Bombi, professor of Italian in the UV, has a long research career in the field of musicology. So, he has published researches about music in the 17th century in the Region of Valencia. In 2012, he has published ‘Entre tradición y modernidad: el italianismo musical en Valencia (1685-1738)’, a book edited by the Valencian Institute of Music.

International Musicology Society is the reference body of this discipline. It celebrates its congress every five years when all the positions have been renewed. One of these positions is the directorate, whose member is the Valencian researchers and this body gathers every year. Andrea Bombi will be the first Valencian who represents the Spanish musicology in the IMS.
