The objective of the Colla de Dolçaines i Perscussió is to help the students of the Universitat de València improve their performance of the valencian traditional music.

These ‘collas’ have their origins in the early 20th century, when it was possible to hear the sound of a ‘dolçaina’ accompanied by the ‘tabalet’ on the streets playing old and new melodies. When the typical ‘dolçainers’ where about to disappear, in the 70’s a wave of young ‘dolçainers’ lead the way creating a whole network of new schools of traditional music. Nowadays, the Universitat de València joins this tendency with the start-up of la Colla de Dolçaines i Percussió.

The creation of the Colla includes some rehearsals that will take place along the first term each Thursday, from 5th October to 14th December 2017, from 18 to 21 at the lecture theatre Sanchis Guarner of the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication (Blasco Ibañez, 32, València). 

Pre-registration
The pre-registration is open until 4th October (Wednesday). Besides, it expects to refund the registration fees to those who want to take part in this both traditional and innovative project and who attend at least an 80% of the meetings.

The requirements of the candidates are: being a student of the Universitat de València, being 26 years old at the most, having prior performance knowledge with ‘dolçaina’ and/or traditional percussion and passing an easy test level. The test will take place the 5th October at 17:00 at the rehearsals’ room. It will consist in the performance of a piece of free choice, no longer than 10 minutes.

To do the pre-registration it is necessary to fill in an application form available in this link or at the office of Àrea d’Activitats Musicals of the Fundació General of the Universitat de València, located in calle Amadeo de Saboya 4, 4ª planta, Valencia, Monday - Friday, from 9 to 14 am.
