Renewable energies will be the topic of the 3rd edition of the Spring University of Alzira (UPA)

Sessions will be held on 17th and 18th May, free of charge for general public. Professors of the Universitat Vicente Martínez-Soria and José Luis Gómez will teach training modules of the UPA about the current energy issue.

This Monday, 14th May will be Emilio Barba, director of Initiatives of the Office of the Vice-principal for Territorial Projection and Participation and coordinator of UPA; Diego Gómez, mayor of Alzira; Pepe Grau, councillor for Education and Children; Iván Martínez, councillor of Economic Development, Work and European Projects; Pep Carreres, councillor for Agriculture and Environment. They have presented the programme of the third edition of the Spring University of Alzira. It is the result of the close collaboration between the Universitat de València, the Valencian Provincial Council and the City Hall of Alzira and Caixa Popular.

Under the heading of Renewable energy: A viable alternative to fossil fuels?, the UPA will be held in the headquarters of IDEA (Initiative for economic development of Alzira) on 17th and 18th May. The training sessions will be lead by the professors Vicente Martínez-Soria (Department of Chemical Engineering) and José Luis Gómez Amo (Department of Earth Physics and Thermodynamics).

Emilio Barba, coordinator of UPA, has explained that the objective of this third edition of UPA is to create a forum to debate where “debating and providing ideas to contribute to the conservation and sustainability of the Valencian environment through the detailed analysis of basic grounds of the main renewable energies”.

Diego Gómez, mayor of Alzira, explained that this third edition of UPA is timed to coincide with Biosfira, a meeting about sustainability areas, in them will be activities around the healthy life, as the conference The role of the renowable in the generation of electricity in Spain. The professor María Dolores Furió of the Department of Financial Economics of the Universitat de València will give the lecture.

The Universitat de València, true to its commitment with the Valencian territory and society, promotes a new academic action, thanks to the collaboration with the Valencian Provincial Council, City Hall of Alzira and Caixa Popular.
