The cultural observatory of the Universtat de València has organised the seminar ‘Observatorios culturales en las universidades públicas del siglo XXI’ (Cultural observatories in public universities in the 21st century’) and it will take place next Tuesday, 24th of May at La Nau. In this seminar, the participants will analyse the important role of these entities in the encouragement of debate and reflection, the support for decision-making in the planning of cultural policies and the promotion of dialogue between the various actors involved in this sector.

In this debate will participate Antonio J. González, director of the office of the secretary of Planning of SEA-EU (Universidad Europe de los Mares); and Salvador Catalán, director of the Cultural Activities Service at the University of Cádiz. The seminar will take place at 6pm at will be presented and moderated by Raúl Abeledo, academic director of the UV Cultural Observatory. The admission is free prior registration.

Cultural observatories have a key role in generating cultural knowledge as well as in systematization and critical analysis. When cultural observatories are attached to a public university they also fulfil a fundamental service in the field of cultural public policies. Hence, they collaborate in the understanding of cultural phenomena and contribute to public debate from an academic context.
