The University of Valencia has signed a collaboration agreement of a technical and educational nature with the animation studio La Tribu Animation with which the students of the School of Engineering (ETSE-UV) can complete their training in the company and thus integrate in a real production environment. The faculty, meanwhile, can learn first-hand about the needs of the sector in the industrial field.

The agreement has been sealed “in order to give an effective response to the demands of social and technological change” and is based on the study of technical solutions for the improvement of production processes and innovation in the animation sector. For Ignacio García, coordinator of the Degree in Multimedia Engineering of the ETSE-UV, “this type of collaboration is essential to keep our studies updated and thus be able to better cover the needs of society”.

The agreement is valid for twelve months and can be extended and plans to develop extension courses or postgraduate programs for its implementation at the University of Valencia through the University-Business Foundation ADEIT. One of the first joint actions, and which has been addressed directly to the student body, was the conference that Rafel Bernabeu (technical director of La Tribu Animation) gave on 5 February at the ETSE-UV facilities and discussed the different technical positions in an animation production.

“For us it is a way to advance in the achievement of one of our objectives: the training and retention of Valencian talent”, explains Nadia Ruiz, CEO and co-founder of La Tribu. Ruiz adds that the agreement with the Universitat de València is the best way to keep “such a necessary” relationship as the one that unites “the animation industry with the academic and knowledge universe”.
