The Science Park celebrates on 16th October its 10th Anniversary

The Science Park of the Universitat de València (PCUV) celebrates today Wednesday, 16th October, the 10th Anniversary of its inauguration. In this place for the innovation, where live Scientifics and entrepreneurs, the academic institution accomplishes with good part of its university mission of contributing to the improvement of its environment. The act takes place in Auditorio Marie Curie, from 10:00 to 12:00, and Nuria Oliver, Data Science expert, will give a conference.

This act will have the presence of the principal of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre, and the Valencia Minister of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, Carolina Pascual. The act will meet models of the Valencian innovation system. It will focus its content in the intervention of Nuria Oliver, Data Science expert, director of Research in Data Science in Vodafone and Data Pop Alliance NGO, who will give the conference: Innovación: mi visión personal (Innovation: my personal perspective).

Nuria Oliver (Alicante, 1970) is an international model in the use of data science for the analyses of the human behavior and the social good. Telecommunications engineer and PhD of Media Lab for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), was scientific director of Telefónica R+D. She is fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). She is also academic numerary member of Real Academia de Ingeniería de España and recently she has been named Data Scientist of the year by the European industry of Big Data.

During the act, which will last one hour and a half and will be leaded by the journalist Reyes Juan, the Universitat will recognised the research centre and the companies with years of experience based on this ecosystem of innovation that is the Science Park. The first – research institutes and unique centres-, will be awarded by its abilities and its important role in the transfer of knowledge; the second –companies with scientific and technological base that have grown up in the core of PCUV-, for being example of the generation of innovation and progress in its environment since the R+D+I, and for demonstrating, with the other research centre, the fact that the collaboration public-private is essential in the progress to a society of knowledge.

The celebration of the Wednesday is the main act of a commemoration that has been celebrated throughout 2019 in the Science Park, with different activities ranging from realization of events days and conferences to publication of materials for Innovation.The PCUV sits on a plot of 200,000 sq. m. in the university campus of Burjassot-Paterna. The Science Park has 7 research institutes, 2 unique centres and a business area made by 90 innovative companies. It was opened in 2009.
