Science, tourism healthy lifestyle or economy in the Unisocietat conference cycle for February

Science, tourism healthy lifestyle or economy star in the Unisocietat conference cycle during February. This programme aims at complementing the academic year of Unisocietat, it is free and open to general public from the city and its environment. Benetússer, Cullera, Quart de Poblet, Massamagrell, l’Eliana, Gandia, Ontinyent, Paterna, Requena and Alzira will host the lectures of this training cycle organised by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation.

The first conferences will take place on Wednesday 1 February. Benetússer (Horta Sud) receives in Centro Cultural ‘El Molí’ the dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Federico Pallardó Calatayud (Departament of Physiology), who will approach diet and healthy lifestyle issues. On this same day, the Full University Professor and Principal of the UV between 2002 and 2010, Francisco Tomás i Vert (Department of Physical Chemistry) will offer the conference entitled ‘Nanoscience and nanorobots’ in the Gandia International Centre (La Safor). 

On Tuesday 14 February, diet and lifestyle will be again the background of the lecture by Professor Federico Pallardó, which in this occasion will be given in the Centro Cultural of Massamagrell (Horta Nord).

Cullera (Ribera Baixa) will host on Wednesday 15 February at its Municipal Auditorium the conference ‘Tourism and gastronomy’ by Professor Clara Martínez Fuentes (Department of Business Administration ‘Juan José Renau Piqueras’).

On Thursday 16 February will take place the conferences in Ontinyent (Vall d’Albaida), Paterna (Horta Nord) and Quart de Poblet (Horta Oest). The Centre Cultural de Caixa Ontinyent will receive professor Francisco Tomás i Vert, who will share his reflections on nanoscience with attendants. In the Centro Social de Campament of Paterna will take place ‘Stress: enemy or ally?’ by Isabel Rodríguez Molina (Department of Social Psychology). And at the Casa de la Cultura of Quart de Poblet the attendants will find out more about justice and people’s courts thanks to professor Virginia Pardo Iranzo (Department of Administrative and Procedural Law).

On 21 February the UNISOCIETAT conference cycle will arrive to the Casa de la Cultura of Alzira (Ribera Alta), where the vice-director of ETSE (School of Engineering) José Torres País (Department of Electronic Engineering) will intervene with the conference entitled ‘CERN: God's machine in your home’.

In l’Eliana (Camp de Túria) right, power and justice will stand out in the lecture of the vice-dean of the Faculty of Law, Ángeles Solanes Corella (Department of Moral and Political Legal Philosophy). This lecture will take place at the Training Centre for Adult People of L’Eliana.

The last conference in February will be held in (Meseta de Requena-Utiel), concretely on 23 February at Espacio Cultural Feliciano Antonio Yeves. Under the title ‘Cooperativism and Social Economy: work and welfare’, Professor Rafael Chaves Ávila (Department of Applied Economics) will share his knowledge on this matter with the public.

The UNISOCIETAT conference cycle, which will carry on each month throughout the academic year and until June, has been organised by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, in collaboration with the City Halls of Alzira, Benetússer, Cullera, l’Eliana, Gandia, Massamagrell, Ontinyent, Paterna, Quart de Poblet and Requena, and the financial support given by Caixa Popular and Caixa Ontinyent (funding entity at la Vall d’Albaida). Its purpose is to complement academic courses of the programme ‘Unisocietat’, which bring around 1.500 enrolled in 2016-2017 students together.
