The Senate debates 2022 election programme

The Regulations governing the elections for principal of the University, which will be held on 1st March, establish that the Senate will debate the candidacies and programmes presented in the elections. This meeting took place on Tuesday 15th February and could be followed live on the Universitat’s website.

Article 20 of the General Electoral Regulations of the Universitat de València establishes that, in compliance with article 100.2 of the Statutes, a debate will be held to present the programme and the candidacies’ team competing in the electoral process for principal, which were called by the Governing Council on 13th December.

According to the calendar of this process, this meeting of the Senate took place on Tuesday 15th February.

At the session of the Senate, the programme of the only candidacy was presented, headed by the current principal Mª Vicente Mestre, proclaimed by the Electoral Commission in accordance with the regulations of the process.

The Senate debate followed the rules set out in the Regulations, consisting of a presentation of the candidacy, which took 30 minutes, and two turns to speak, with the corresponding answer from the candidate.

At the end of the debate on the electoral programme, the candidate for principal had five minutes to make a final speech.
