Throughout its trajectory, the initiative co-produced by the Universitat de València and the Valencian Institute of Culture has been a resounding success. This edition will count with the collaboration of the Diputació de València, the City Council of València through the Palau de la Música de València, the Banco Sabadell Foundation, the Bancaja Foundation, Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño de València (EASD) and the Women’s Legacy Project. The festival was presented this Friday morning at La Nau by the heads of the organising and collaborating organisations.

Most of the concerts of the Serenates Festival (#Serenates2022) will be held at 22:00 hours at the cloister of La Nau. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.latenda.es/entrades from Monday 13^th of June at 14 hours at a symbolic price of 3 euros.

The 2022 programme will include ten performances. The festival will open of Friday 24^th of June with the Grup de Dansa of the Universitat de València, who will perform “Elionor de Villena”, a production directed by the choreographer Toni Aparisi. This performance is about the life and work of Villena through the poetics of dance and music to emphasise her: her feminist fight in literature and the Church. They will be accompanied by the Acadèmia de Capella de Ministrers.

On Saturday 25^th of June it will be the turn of Capella de Ministrers with “El collar de la Paloma” a work based on the book of the same name by the Andalusian humanist, poet and writer Ibn Hazm (Córdoba, 994 - Montija, 1064) considered one of the most outstanding authors in Arabic literature. The formation celebrates the 1,000 years of this work with this new concert. His work is about 11^th-century Andalusian poetry of homoerotic content. 

On Sunday 26^th there will be two performances. At 12:00 hours, with free entrance until seating capacity is completed, Tymbals Dipercusión will fill La Nau with music. This project is dedicated to people with functional and intellectual diversity to improve their quality of life. At night at 22:00 hours, it will be the turn of the Orfeó Universitari de València, with a celebration concert of the 75^th anniversary of the group. This presentation will count with the participation of Orlando Consort, one of the most outstanding vocal groups on the international scene in the performance of Renaissance music.

On Monday 27^th, the Orquestra Filharmònica of the Universitat de València will discover the sounds of the jazz genre. With the suggestive title “Strings&Jazz” the orchestra will share the stage of this concert with David Pastor, one of the most renowned Valencian musicians who has travelled the world developing jazz techniques. The voice of the trumpet will be the protagonist throughout the evening which together with the rhythm of the drums, the depth of the bass and the virtuosity of the piano, will play the most symbolic pieces of this genre.

On Tuesday 28^th, the Dómisol Sisters will perform “Dancing with Dómisol Sisters”, a day in tribute to the great nights in the ballrooms of the United States in the 30s and 40s. Dómisol Sisters was created in València in 2011 with the intention of recreate, with their own arrangements, the rhythms and melodies of the United States during the 30s, 40s and 50s. Their performances are characterised by the dynamism, and the optimistic and fun energy that transports you into the swig era. Before the concert, at 19 hours at the Matilde Salvador room of La Nau, there will be a free lindi hop workshop with a capacity of 70 seats, for people who have purchased tickets for the night’s performance.

On Wednesday 29 of June, Amalia Tortajada with the flute and Andrea González with the guitar, will bring the “Identidade: Women and Art” project to the concert. Identidade is a inspiring project in which women from different cultural backgrounds and artistic areas come together to collaborate and present a common work.

The Orquesta de València with the Choir of the Generalitat Valenciana will be at La Nau on Thursday 30^th of June to release “Rapsodia Bocairentina” directed by its own author, Jaume Santonja. Additionally, the master will direct “Marinada, ballet sinfónico para soprano y orquesta” by Vicent Garcés and text by Joan Fuster, specially programmed for its centenary. The concert is of free access and the invitations can be collected 72 hours beforehand. The day will end with the Generalitat Choir and the Orquesta de València who will jointly perform the premiere of the work “Terra en la boca”, by Voro Garcia.

“Canción Olvidada” is the tile of the show to be held on Friday, 1 July. A production by Eidos Ensemble, which was created in 2014 with the double purpose of uniting cultures and reclaiming forgotten musical repertoires with special attention to compositions written by women from the 18^th century to the present day. During 60 minutes-duration the audience will attend to interviews, performances and many surprises in a radio programme presented by the announcer Lara Salvador, with the live interventions by the Eidos Ensemble, who will perform songs by the four protagonists: Pauline Viardot, Maria Malibran, Maria Matilde Alea, and the composer Matilde Salvador.

Finally, the closure of the festival on the 2^nd of July, will be in charge of Sole Giménez, who will perform “Mujeres de Música” a project that vindicates the role of creative women who made their way along the difficult path of music and many others who, years later, took the baton to widen the margin for music made by women. Its a work that includes two albums and one tour which includes songs from different countries and styles, but with a common nexus: the creative woman and the female talent historically reviled and even silenced.

Over the years, within the framework of “Serenates”, many works have been premiered or recovered after centuries of oblivion in the various Valencian music archives. Also, many Valencian groups have made their artistic debut on this stage, which promotes the visibility of the youngest talent.
