- November 23rd, 2021
The libraries of the University of Valencia have obtained the EFQM 400 Seal of Excellence, Innovation and Sustainability, as well as the international recognition 4-star organisation, awarded by the European Foundation for Quality Management and the Club de Excelencia en la Gestión (CEG). This seal is one of the highest recognitions of excellence awarded in Europe and positions the SBD as a benchmark of quality. The seal supports the commitment of the University of Valencia in the promotion and development of a culture of excellence.
Currently, there are 6 public university libraries in Spain evaluated with the EFQM model. To obtain this Seal, the SBD carried out an evaluation process that began in 2021 and consists of different phases: an initial internal self-assessment, the preparation of the EFQM Report submitted for the application for the Seal of Excellence and the external evaluation that took place on 25 and 26 October.
The team of external evaluators assessed the SBD positively in 9 strong points, and pointed out 8 opportunities for improvement to work on in the coming years.
Obtaining this Seal of Excellence, Innovation and Sustainability has been a collective task, and is the result of many years of work with a common goal: a unique library policy at the University of Valencia, a decentralised service provision, close to users, responding to their expectations and seeking continuous improvement.
This recognition is the result of the work and effort of all the staff of the Library and Documentation Service, of the collaboration with multiple services and units of the institution, especially the Quality Unit, the Analysis and Planning Service and the Rector's Delegate for the Strategic Plan, and of the support provided by the rector's team of the University of Valencia.
