This Thursday 27th May, the First Conference on Menstrual Dignity will be held at the Botanical Garden of Valencia from 5pm to 8pm at the University of Valencia.

On the occasion of the International Day of Action for Women's Health (28 May) and the month of menstrual hygiene, this event aims to make menstruation visible and dignify this topic, which is still taboo in our society today.

This conference is part of the awareness-raising project "Menstruació Digna", which has been set up by a group of students and lecturers at the University of Valencia and which has the financial support of the UNESCO Chair, and the collaboration of the UV Equality Unit, the UV Faculty of Social Sciences and the Balloona Matata association.

It will be inaugurated by Amparo Mañés, director of the UV Equality Unit and Toya Vázquez, head of Curricular Sustainability Initiatives at the UV.

The programme features a panel of experts, in which menstruation will be analysed from various perspectives, with gynaecologist Ana Casanova; menstrual educator Carolina Ruiz; sexologist and psychologist Esperanza Gil; Ayurveda Guilu Cabale; nutritionist Nadia San Onofre and physiotherapist Rita Paiva.

We will share the "menstruaccions", initiatives designed by those attending the workshops that took place in April on various campuses of the University of Valencia, and which will be implemented in the coming months; and representatives of current initiatives related to menstruation, which have been launched in Valencia by various groups, will also participate.

In addition, the day also includes humour and theatre with a clown conference by Amaia Prieto Marín and a protest theatre initiative by the Unaovarias company.
