The Universitat de València joins the 3 minute silent rallies to reject gender violence at noon on Wednesday. They have been called by the Valencian Government, following the assassination of two children in Castellón, and two women in Bilbao and Granada respectively.  The Universitat invites the university community to gather at the doors of the university buildings.

The rallies aim to honour the victims, support their families and express once again the complete rejection of the University to gender violence.

Early on Monday, two children (3 and 6 years old) were killed by their father, who was separated from the mother. She had reported violence and menaces to the police.

In the last hours, a woman (39 years old) has been killed in Maracena (Granada) by her former partner. Additionally, a woman has had her throat cut by her former partner.

The Valencian Government has called for a rally in the gates of the Palau de la Generalitat to honour the victims and support their families.

The announcement of the Valencian Government stated: “These are 3 minutes of silence to shout out that we want them alive, women want to be alive. This silence will go through the walls of the neighbourhoods, the families, the friendship and towns.   Shouting that we are not accomplices of violence against women and that we won’t look away, that we are not supporting the aggressors.”

They have killed two 2 and 6 year-old children and we want her name in the Valencian people’s memory forever. Valencians won’t permit any additional death of the patriarchy, of men that don’t understand that they are not the rulers of the women’s lives or her children.  We will say this as many times as it is necessary.”
