Silvia Albert hosts on Wednesday in the Universitat de València the play ‘No country for black women’

The actress, Silvia Albert Sopale, will perform her monologue ‘No country for black women’ on Wednesday 20th of February at the University. It will take place in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication. The play, written in the fist person, shows the life of this actress from San Sebastián, a black girl in a black family in a white country. With this play, she invites the reflection on topics such as racisms, machismo and the identity construction of black women in our country.

Once the play finished, there will be a colloquium and a debate moderated by Deborah Ekoka, cultural manager and coordinator of United Minds, a Valencian cultural area of visibility and dissemination of the African world and its culture.

On the 20th of February the World Day of Social Justice, one day that helps to make people aware of problems or unsolved situations as well as so many other international days do.  This monologue is programmed on the occasion of this celebration and because of the initiative diversitats, driven by the vice-principal of Equality, Diversity and Sostenibility of the Universitat de Valènica.

Together with the play, the Social Science Library, Gregori Maians inaugurated the last Monday 11th of February an exhibition of some of the books in its collection, which deal with topics on black people, black communities and the African heritage.  The exhibition, placed in the hall of the library, could be visited from the 11th of to the 22nd of February.
