The Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sports has chosen the Libraries and Documentation Service of the Universitat de València to digitalise 280 pages from the 14th Century to the 19th Century. The digital resource will be integrated into different bibliographical portals, such as the BVPB, Hispana, Europeana and the digital library of the Universitat de València, Somni.

The 280 works, all of them will be in the public domain and free from copyright, relate to editions of the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th Century, of authors such as Ramon Llull, Joan Timoneda, Lluís Vives, Hipòcrates, Palmireno, Julio Verne, Robert Boyle or Sant Vicent Ferrer. The selection covers different topics: medicine, science, literature, cartography, and so on.    All of them are available at Trobes, the library catalog of the Universitat de València.

The copies are under the custody of the Historical Library of the Universitat de València, but some collections of the Humanity Library, Social Sciences Library, Health Science Library and Medical History Library will be also digitalised.

The digitalisation of the 150,000 pages and the creation of a digital resource will be possible thanks to the help given by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The Universitat de València and the Spanish Ministry of Culture signed an agreement, which sets a maximum period of four years to carry this project out.
