Specialists from the Universitat take part in two online round tables on freedom of expression and journalism in times of pandemic

The Faculty of Law of the Universitat has organised this Thursday 7 May, together with the PDLI Platform, two online round tables with specialists in different fields to discuss freedom of expression and journalism in times of pandemic. The call will be made through Webinar and is part of the commemoration of World Press Freedom Day #WPFD2020.

The first round table will begin at 4 p.m. and is entitled 'Threats to freedom of expression and press freedom before and after Covid 19: a Spanish and international vision'. Virginia Pérez Alonso, journalist and president of the PDLI (Platform in Defense of Freedom of Information) will participate in the event; as well as Arianna Vedaschi, full university professor of Comparative Law at Bocconi University; and Andrés Boix, professor of Administrative Law at the Universitat de València. The moderator will be Marta Timón, Supreme Court lawyer.

The second round table will begin at 5 p.m. and is entitled '"Censorship", control and disinformation on the occasion of the Covid-19'. The participants will include Joan Barata, a jurist expert in freedom of expression and advisor to several international bodies; Loreto Corredoira, professor of Information Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid and president of the Law Section of the IAMCR (International Association for Media Studies); and Lorenzo Cotino, full university professor of Constitutional Law at the Universitat de València and promoter of the www.derechocovid.com Observatory and the www.derechotics.com Net. The moderator will be Yolanda Quintana, general secretary of the PDLI.
