Start the acts of 25 November at Universitat with the Espacios violeta’s opening

The institutional act that, on the occasion of 25 November, International Day for Elimination of Violence against Woman, does the Universitat de València, will start with the reading of the Institutional Manifesto by the Principal Mavi Mestre Escrivà on Thursday 21 November at 18:00 p.m. at La Nau Centre Cultural. Then, the Principal will open the Presentation of Espacios Violeta.

Espacio Violeta is a foreseen tool for the 3rd Plan of Equality of Universitat de València to make visible the struggle for equality and against the male’s violence in all the university centres and services and to face them with the support of Equality Unit.

The images if the presentation that shape the Espacios Violeta is work of the painter, writer and illustrator Paula Bonet (Vila-real, 1980). Bonet, who has a Bachelor of Arts by the Universitat Politècnica de València, has pick up the High Distinction of Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government) and was awarded with the Cultural Merit Medal. Next to the Paula Bonet’s illustration can be read the slogan “No estás sola. Queremos y podemos ayudarte. No a la Violencia Machista” (You are not alone. We want and can help you. Against Male’s Violence) that makes visible the institutional implication against violence against women.

With the creation of Espacios Violeta in all Universitat de València’s centres and services, they aim to provide victims of male’s violence with a telephone number and an e-mail to obtain immediate access to the support services that provides the Universitat de València, to make known the resources and procedures of Equality Unit in prevention, detection and follow up the male’s violence cases, to provide support to people who request by volunteer trained staff and to approach the action of Equality Unit to the university centres and services.

At 19:00 p.m., Miguel Lorente Acosta, Director of Equality Unit of the University of Granada and Former Government Delegate against Gender Violence, will give a conference ‘El adoctrinamiento machista y la negación de la violencia de género’ (Male chauvinist indoctrination and denial of gender violence) and, finally, at the closing ceremony, Amparo Mañés will announced the call of 6th ‘Olga Quiñones Fernández Awards’ to the best final degree projects, the best final Master’s degree projects and doctoral thesis that includes the gender perspective and that deal with the equality among women and men.

Although the institutional act is brought forward on 21 November at La Nau Centre Cultural, on 25 November has been called a concentration of five minutes of silence for the gender’s violence victims at 12:00 at the doors of the Office of the Principal.
