After its first years of operation, this educational model has produced very positive results: at least 43% of the students enrolled in the Dual Mention achieved an employment agreement by the company in which they were trained.

For the third consecutive year, the UV offers this option in the degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, an experience that combines university education with learning in companies of the sector. This way, the students of the Dual Mention can develop part of their training in a real professional environment, with the support of both the Universitat and the cooperating entity.

The Dual Mention is not only a placement in a company, but also a way of learning through work, applying the knowledge acquired in class, and developing skills that business organisations increasingly value.

According to the academic programme directors, this experience helps students to better understand the profession, gain confidence, acquire professional skills, and discover career opportunities that are not often known during the first academic years.

Moreover, many of the participating companies take advantage of this period to identify and recruit young talent. In other words: it is an opportunity to get known before finishing the degree.

Results that speak for themselves
The first employment data corresponding to 2025 show that at least 43% of the students of the Dual Mention were hired after finishing their training period.

And the percentage could have been even higher. In many cases, the companies offered the students the opportunity to continue working, but some of them preferred to enrol in a Master’s degree before entering the labour market.

The current year’s data is not closed yet, but some young students have already received offers to continue working in the companies where they are doing their Dual Mention.

A direct connection with the labour world

One of the biggest strong points of this model is the real connection between university and business. The students know first-hand how the professional sector works, while the companies may discover future professionals with whom to work.

In fact, the School of Engineering (ETSE-UV), for example, explains the case of a student of Chemical Engineering who, after her participation in the Dual Mention, captured the interest of many departments of the same company that wanted to include her on their teams.
