The round table ‘The role of media in humanitarian crisis’ will take place tomorrow 13th of November in the Aula Magna of La Nau Cultural Centre at 7 p.m. It is free entry until seating is completed.

Three experts in the field will be part of the round table: Rosa Solbes, journalist; Lali Cambra, communication consultant in MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières); and Vicent Montagud, journalist in the Valencian Public Television.

The debate ‘The role of media in humanitarian crisis’ is organised by Médecins Sans Frontières together with La Nau Cultural Centre of the Universitat de València within the framework of ‘From action to work’, an exhibition of testimony’s history and every occasion in which the organisation has denounced the witnessed crisis and abuses.”

The undeniable influence of media in humanitarian crisis and the importance of distinguishing between facts and the role of media in their development will be considered. Moreover, the relationship between media and humanitarian organisations during the last years will be studied. In this sense, it has been appropriate to give voice to humanitarian actors and media so they can exchange experiences and thoughts. Furthermore, an open and useful debate is offered so it can be illustrated that proper management of information contributes to humanitarian action positively.
