“El Circ de la Frontera”, the latest proposal by UV´s Escena Erasmus theatre company, composed of European students, is one of many proposals at the festival Tercera Setmana, in which UV is a collaborator and which starts this Saturday, the 11th of June in Valencia. The Universitat will also present another play titled “Cosas que se olvidan fácilmente” (“Easily forgotten things”).

“El Circ de la Frontera” is a circus spectacle but at the same time it is a reflection on the confines of the old continent with actors of German, British, Greek, Belgian, Chilean and Estonian origin. The play is programmed for the days 17 and 18 of June in Sala Matilde Salvador in La Nau. “Cosas que se olvidan fácilmente” (“Easily Forgotten Things”) will take place on the 14th of the same month at Col·legi Major Rector Peset.

This Saturday, the 11th of June, the international festival of performing arts will begin in Valencia. La Asociación Valenciana de Empresas de Teatro y Circo (AVETID) with the help of UV, have organised the annual event which in this first edition will take place between the 11th and the 19th of June, and which aims to be a showcase of the latest advances in the fields of dramaturgy and stage arts.

The event´s programme consists of a total of 28 spectacles of various kinds, which will take place all over the city, spread out on the map over 15 stage locations and 9 non-conventional spaces, among which there are some open-air places.

Among other things on the programme, there are some well known contemporary, Spanish theatre companies, whose quality is proven by the National Theatre Award, as is the case of the Galician company Chévere and their documental comedy about rootlessness and the “Eroski Paraíso” supermarkets. Apart from this, The National Award for Dramatic Literature has been received by José Ramón for his monologue "El minuto del payaso" (“The minute of the clown”). Luis Bermejo is the protagosnist of the homage to the circus and its clowns. The winner of the Max Award, Alfedo Sanzol, presents his nostalgic and semi-biographical conception of love in “La respiración” (“Breathing”) whose protagonist is Veronica Forqué. Also, Miguel Arco who is visiting the city with his two productions, will present his tattered reading of “Hamlet”. There will also be Carmen Machi´s monologue in defence of Helen of Troy called “Juicio a una zorra” (“A slut´s trial”).

What´s more, there are other many theatre companies from Comunidad Valenciana which will perform in the festival with their new productions. Among these there are: CRIT Companya de Teatre with the play “Innerland”, La Ferroviaria with “Sedientos” (“Thirsty”), Visitants with their street spectacle “Tempus”, as well as Circo Gran Fele with “Tren” (“Train”). Moreover, included in the programme are also international companies.

Students of Universitat de València can take advantage of a 25% discount on the tickets to the festival.
