TVE in collaboration with Spanish Universities (CRUE) broadcasts a series of scientific dissemination spots.

The Audiovisual Content and Multimedia working group of Spanish Universities Communication (CRUE) has coordinated 33 universities in order to co-produce the third season of the series of scientific dissemination spots named LA UNIVERSIDAD RESPONDE (THE UNIVERSITY RESPONDS), where the main research areas on major issues of social interest will be presented.

TVE broadcasts daily at 10:50 a.m. the series “La Universidad Responde” through the programme “La Aventura del Saber” on channel 2. Next Tuesday, 1st December, a spot of the Universitat de València will be broadcast by professor Germà Llorca under the title “Què son las fake news?” (What are fake news?).

The main purpose of LA UNIVERSIDAD RESPONDE is the society to hold a positive view of the university scientific community, which is consisted of researchers who work in their laboratories to develop complex theories, occasionally incomprehensible for the rest of the population. The initiative aims at giving the image of a close, useful and connected university which meets the demanding needs of the society in the different areas of knowledge.

Each informative capsule lasts two minutes and answers, on the part of a researcher, a question asked by the public. Questions such as: What is a spiral galaxy? How can we achieve sustainable consumption of energy? What is artificial intelligence? What is the palaeolithic diet? How to recycle CO₂? What will the architecture of the future look like? Up to 300 questions will be answered in this initiative as a result of a co-production of audiovisual services provided by 33 Spanish universities.

This narrative structure responds to an easy explanation of a process that, at first sight, might appear as complex. Nonetheless, this method has to be understandable for the public in order to make known scientific and social advances which can facilitate people’s daily activities and contribute to the enhance their quality of life. Thereby, the universities, apart from carrying out the technological and social transfer to the industrial network and society, can also communicate and disseminate their results and experiences to the citizenship.

The project has been coordinated by the Universitat de València through its Audiovisual Workshop, which has developed the design of its audiovisual format and executive production.

The project counts on a significant sample of Spanish Universities such as: University of Alacant, University of Almeria, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, University of Barcelona, University of Castilla-La Mancha, University of Córdoba, Universidade da Coruña, University of Extremadura, University of Girona, University of Granada, University of the Balearic Islands, International University of Andalusia, Universitat Jaume I, University of La Laguna, University of Lleida, University of Malaga, Miguel Hernández University of Elche, Catholic University of San Antonio (Murcia), University of Murcia, National Distance Education University (UNED), University of Oviedo, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Technical University of Cartagena, Technical University of Madrid, Universitat Politècnica de València, University of Salamanca, Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, University of Seville, Universitat de València, University of Valladolid, University of Vic, Universidade de Vigo and University of Zaragoza.
