The Universitat awards the Cangur of Mathematics prize in which around 11,000 students participated

The Paraninfo (Main hall) of the Universitat de València embraced last Friday, 23 May the award ceremony of the Cangur of Mathematics test to the students of the Valencian Community. This year 10,963 students of different levels presented.

The best punctuation of each level were given to Nicolás Talbot López from CP Inmaculada of Alicante, in the level 1 category 1st ESO. In the following level, 2-2nd ESO there was a tie of points and the award was for Gonzalo Retuerto from IES Ramón Cid of Benicarló and for Ana Serrano from IES Joan Fuster of Sueca. The same happened, but on this occasion with a tie of three people, in the level 3- 3rd ESO, and the award was given to Pau Aguilar from IES Penyagolosa of Castelló de la Plana, for Artai Blaya from IES L'Eliana and for Alejandro Pous del CP Nuestra Señora de la Salud of Algemesí. In the level 4-4th ESO, the award was for Egor Zverev from IES Enric Valor of Castalla; meanwhile, in the level 5- 1st Bachiller, the winner was Diego Navarro Perea from IES Ramon Llul of Valencia. The last awards, level 6 - 2nd Bachiller ended up in the hands of Carlos Calderón from CP Mas Camarena of Betera.

This competition gives the awards to the best 10 punctuations of each level and this year 63 students received an award. Among the awards there were calculators, smart watches, e-books, tablets or a laptop. Moreover, every awarded student was given as a gift a schoolbag and a bottle RPET of 600ml of the Universitat de València.

The president of the SCM, Montserrat Alsina, gave the Silver Pin, that recognises the historical good results in the Cangur test to Carlos Calderón Alba.

This year the award ceremony Salvador Moll was lead by the dean of the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, in representation of the Principal of the Universitat, and the presidential table was formed by Alberto Conejero, Office of the Vice-Principal of Students and Entrepreneurship; Montserrat Alsina, president of the Catalan Society of Mathematics (SCM), Dolors Arnal, of the Society of Mathematics Education Al-Khwarizmi (SEMCV) and Màrius Fullana, coordinator of the Organising committee of the Cangur tests in the Valencian Community and Catalonia.
