On Tuesday 10th December, La Nau Cultural Centre of the Universitat de València will commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the Aula Magna with two lectures, one at 4:30 p.m. and the other at 6 p.m., and a poetry recital at 7 p.m. This act, organised by the Literature Club and the Institute of Human Rights of the Universitat de València, will be free with limited capacity.

The first lecture, under the title Cómo convertir los Derechos Humanos en trending topic (How to make Human Rights Trending Topic) will be given by the journalist and chief editor of Planeta Futuro (El País), Lola Huete.  The following conference entitled Diáspora, literatura y derechos humanos (Diaspora, literature and human rights)will be given by the writer and Literature Professor, Daniel Centeno Maldonado.  To conclude this special celebration in honour of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, poet, writer and Professor of Philology Abderraman El Fathi will perform a poetry recital under the title Poesía desde la otra orilla (Poetry from the other shore). All these activities will be presented and moderated by José Elías Esteve, Director of the Master’s Degree in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice.

This is not the first time that the Universitat de València has carried out an activity to commemorate this anniversary. Last year it held an exhibition in which 30 Valencian designers and illustrators took part, as well as a congress with the aim of examining and evaluating the recognition and effective guarantee of the rights contemplated in the Declaration.
