The Universitat celebrates the World Sight Day

The Universitat celebrated on Wednesday October 16th the 11th Conference: “La vision en el mundo” (The sight around the world). The meeting took place in Saló de Graus “Lisa Meitner” Faculty of Physics, Burjassot-Paterna campus. The conference belongs to the World Sight Day that was on October 10th.

The meeting programme started at 9:45 a.m. with the presentation. Then (at 10:00 a.m.) Antonio López Alemany, from Department of Optics studies and Optometry and Sight Science of the Universitat de València, gave the conference “La importancia de la prevención de la discapacidad visual: la pandemia de la miopía” (The importance of prevention of visual impairment: the pandemic of myopia). At 10:45 a.m., María Francesca Villaplana, Andrés Francés Parra, students of the Master’s Degree in Advanced Optometry and Vision Sciences 2018/19 of the Universitat de València, carried out an operative of visual health. At 12:00 a.m., Rosario Fons Martínez, Consuelo Arroyo Bermúdez, Rosario Martínez Navarro, doctors at Manises Hospital, Arnau de Vilanova’s Hospital and the Universitary Clínico Hospital, respectively, talked about the work of this year in Dominican Republic. And at 12:30 p.m. Tomás Moya Calleja, of the Valencian Baviera’s Clinic and collaborator in Visió sense Fronteres NGO, talked about “La ceguera: fácil tratamiento, difícil solución. El papel de las ONGs ante este problema mundial” (Blindness: easy treatment, hard solution. The role of the NGOs in this global issue).
