The Universitat de València has prepared an action plan to coordinate the different initiatives to assist people directly affected by the war in Ukraine. Support services for refugees, fundraising, reception of students and research staff, provision of support to Russian and Ukrainian people enrolled at the UV, will be some of the services that the University will offer.

In the context of the war that Ukraine is suffering, the Universitat de València has started the coordination and execution of different solidarity initiatives in order to give all the support of the institution to people who have been and will be affected by the war.

In this sense, the working group of the action plan "Universitat de València with Ukraine" met on the morning of 21st March to coordinate the different initiatives planned to attend the recently arrived Ukrainian people.

The action plan includes different action areas, from the provision of support services to refugees, fundraising, the reception of Ukrainian students and research staff and the provision of support to Ukrainian and Russian students and staff enrolled at the UV.

Firstly, Ukrainian and Russian students and staff have been identified at the UV in order to study each case and offer them a personalised attention plan according to their needs.

In addition, it is planned to set up a comprehensive care service for newcomers, offering free Spanish classes, legal advice, individual and family psychological care and facilitation of socio-educational activities.

To ensure fundraising, a solidarity run is planned for 30 April in the old Turia riverbed. The website for registration will be available shortly. If you are not able to participate in the race as a runner, you can also make a solidarity contribution.

Finally, the reception of Ukrainian research staff and students is planned so that they can continue their professional or student careers at the Universitat de València, following instructions from the Valencian Government.

Although many of these services will be offered thanks to the mobilisation of UV staff and students, an initial expenditure of €50,000 has been agreed at this meeting, which will cover the resources needed to carry out all the initiatives.

This action plan is in addition to the actions and measures already taken in this context, such as the suspension of activities at the Russian centre, the suspension of mobility programmes with Russian universities for the next academic year and the collection of materials organised by student associations.
