The Universitat de València finishes its participation as guest of honour of FILUNI, which has gathered more than 40.000 people
The Universitat de València finished its participation as a guest of honour of the 8th International Book Fair for University Students (FILUNI), a fair organised by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). The fair took place from 25 to 30 August at the Exhibition and Congress Centre of the UNAM, and has brought together more than 40.000 people and approximately 370 activities.

The UV participated with more than a hundred activities, among book presentations, exhibitions, panel discussions, lectures, workshops, recitals, projections ad concerts.
The participation was coordinated by Publications of the Universitat de València, the University Culture Service and the Libraries and Documentation Service, with the collaboration of researchers, authors, artists and professionals of the Universitat de València and other institutions.
Publishing production
The publishing production of the UV has been prominent in FILUNI. The Universitat de València presented a selection of 550 titles and 4000 copies of its academic, scientific, literary and cultural catalogue.
The publishing collaboration between both universities constituted, precisely, one of the main results of the participation of the UV in FILUNI. During the fair, five co-editions that study in detail the historical and cultural links between Mexico and Spain were presented, with special attention to the Republican exile, artistic creation, memory and intellectual relations between both countries.
The exhibitions of the Universitat, main characters in FILUNI
The participation of the Universitat de València allowed the transfer of a part of its cultural heritage to Mexico. The Historical Library of the Universitat presented the exhibition “Ink, parchment and paper. Treasures of the Historical Library of the Universitat de València (15th and 17th centuries)”, a selection that showed the variety of bibliographic collections preserved by the institution and university tradition of preservation and knowledge dissemination.
To this proposal, they added Les escriptures de l’aigua –dedicated to the social memory of the DANA in October 2024–, La Nau de la Universitat de València i la funció cultural del cartell –focused on the path of the historical building as a university cultural space, and facilities of Art al Quadrat inspired in the figure of María Moliner, for the stand at the Universitat de València.
Cinema, music, science and memory
The programme of the UV incorporated different cultural activities as well, addressed to the figure of the film-maker Luis García-Berlanga –a lectura, a series of films, a concert and the premiere in the American continent of the documentary BERLANGA!
In addition, the programme addressed issues such as the Spanish republican exile, climate change and land management, cultural heritage, minority languages, scientific dissemination or the situation of the book sector after the DANA.
Authors, researchers, and experts of the Universitat de València participated in the programme proposed by the Universitat, in which Antoni Furió, Josep Lluís Barona, Carmen Manuiel, Rafael Gil and Xelo Candel stand out.
Professional meetings
The Universitat de València also participated in professional meetings about university publishing, libraries, university bookshops and author rights, in which issues such as open access, artificial intelligence, or the preservation of the documentary heritage have been addressed.
The fair gathered 350 university seals of 14 countries, with more than 20.000 titles and 100.000 copies.
For the Universitat de València, the guest of honour supposed a recognition to a university with more than 5 centuries of history, and to Publications of the Universitat de València, the publishing path that started in 1920, with important awards, such as the Distinció 9 d’Octubre of the Generalitat Valenciana.
The fair, which had the presence of more than 70 media, finishes its eighth edition with more than 40.000 attendees.
