The Universitat de València, headquarter of the VIII edition of Humans Fest

The Universitat de València is one of the headquarters of Human fest, the International Film and Human Rights Festival, organizer by the Justice Foundation together with other organisations to make people aware of human rights in Valencia.

The programming, that takes place at the University, starts this Sunday, 12 February, at 18h in the facilities of the Principal Peset Hall of Residence, with a projection of Valencian shorts called ‘El audiovisual como herramienta de cambio’ (Audiovisual as a tool of change). Shorts programmed are: ‘Vidas en tránsito’ by Sofía Olins (2016); ‘Estamos en todos los ríos’, by Rubén Monsuy (2016), ‘Esperando a Europa’, by Samuel Sebastián (2016) and ‘Marhaba’, by Emilio Martí (2016). After the screening, it will take place a round table conducted by Nanguan Manzam and count on the participation of Ann Hernández, Rubén Monsuv, Samuel Sebastián and Emilio Martí.

For its part, Centre culture La Nau will host on Monday, 13 February, at 18h the round table ‘Plasmar los derechos: Imagen y DDHH’. The illustrator Paco Roca, the doctor in psychology Ismael Quintanilla and the filmmaker Samuel Sebastián will collaborate in the debate. Round table will address the role of illustration as a tool of social protest, or the importance that the art could perform against stereotypes, clichés and fallacies that carry on the violence and injustice.

Finally, La Nau will host on 15 February, at 16:30h another debate: ‘Vigilar y denunciar: Documentalistas, incidencia política y Derechos Humanos’, with the collaboration of Vinay Shukla/ Khushboo Ranka (film directors of ‘An insignificant man’)’; Xapo Ortega (film director of ‘Tarajal’); Vicent Peris (film director of ‘La estrategia del silencio’) and Laura Ballester (Journalist of Levante-EMV). The debate will be conducted by Samuel Sebastián.
