The Universitat de València’s historical building La Nau held the celebration for the 30th anniversary of the Ibero-American Educational and Cultural Television Association (ATEI) from June 20th to June 24th.

Founded in 1992, the ATEI unites 80 Spanish and Ibero-American institutions that share the responsibility of disseminating science and culture in Spain and Ibero-America. València is the permanent headquarters of the association’s office of the general secretary, which manages the institutional relationships and agreements among their associated and collaborating members, executing and developing various activities and initiatives of the association.

The inaugural conference was attended by the president of the Valencian Government, Ximo Puig; the principal of the Universitat de València, M. Vicenta Mestre; the Minister of Culture of Panama, Giselle González, and the president of the ATEI, Gabriel Torrent, among other political and academic authorities. Javier Santaolalla, doctor in particle physics and scientific communicator, was in charge of giving the keynote speech.

On the other hand, the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the UV’s Audiovisual Workshop was also celebrated. To finish the conference, a panel of experts, comprised of Miquel Francés, general secretary of the ATEI; Rosa Franquet, professor from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and Patricia Corredor, professor from the Rey Juan Carlos University, analysed the value of public audiovisual services.

The round table was followed by the premiere of the documentary about Enrique Bustamante (born in Málaga), a posthumous tribute by the ATEI to the distinguished researcher of the contemporary audiovisual media, who died in 2021.

The second day of the meeting was dedicated to the XV General Assembly of ATEI. Today, Wednesday, June 22nd, the 37th edition of TVMorfosis has been celebrated. It is a meeting about audiovisual media attended by national and international communication experts, such as Juan Aguilera, from TV4 Guanajuato; Urbana Gil, from La 2 of TVE, and Urbano García, from RTVE, among others. They have exchanged knowledge on the communication of public audiovisual media in today's geopolitics, on the audiovisual treatment of contents and formats and on convergences and divergences in the digital multicast, among others.

On the last day, which will be tomorrow, Thursday, June 23rd, attendants will have the opportunity to enjoy the training workshop ICATEI: transmedia news in digital multicast.
