The Minister of Home Affairs, Fernando Grande Marlaska, together with the Principal of the Universitat de València, M. Vicenta Mestre, the Director of the International Observatory on Terrorism Studies (OIET), Carlos Igualada; the Regional Secretary for Security and Emergency Response of the Generalitat Valenciana, José María Ángel Batalla; and the President of the Victims of Terrorism Collective (COVITE), Consuelo Ordóñez; have been responsible for inaugurating the second edition of the conference. Organised by OIET and COVITE, it will be held on 6th and 7th October at the Universitat de València.

Over the two days, some of the world's leading academic experts and representatives of national and international organisations specialising in the fight against terrorism will analyse important issues of transcendence, interest and relevance. The present and future of terrorism, its various manifestations in the digital era, how to deal with the processes of violent radicalisation and how to develop the fight against terrorism, by way of example.

Thus, the panel dedicated to "present and future terrorist threats and dynamics" brought together Manuel Navarrete, Director of the Ministry of the Interior's Centre of Intelligence against Terrorism and Organised Crime (CITCO), Chief Commissioner of the National Police's General Intelligence Office, Marcial Andrés Piriz, and the OIET’s director.

In the afternoon, other panels will address the processes of violent radicalisation, extremism and propaganda prevention, disinformation and cyberterrorism in the digital world.

On Friday, the conference includes a panel dedicated to analyse the importance of the witness offered by victims in delegitimising terrorism in society as a mean to achieve political objectives.
