According to the ranking of Shanghai Ranking’s Consultancy, the Universitat de València is among the best centres of the world in 32 of the 54 subjects considered (59%). It has meant an improvement, as in 2017 it was among the best centres of the world in 22 subjects (41%).

GRAS 2018 ranks the best academic and research institutions of the world in 54 subjects of 5 fields of study: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences. The Global Ranking analyses 4,000 higher education institutions. It uses 5 indicators to classify them: number of published articles in 5 years (PUB), impact of the Category Normalized Citation Impact (CNCI) international cooperation (IC), number of publications in prestigious magazines (TOP) and number of prestigious award-winner researchers (AWARD).

Internationally, it is the 13th in Remote Sensing and the 25 in Food Science Technology. The UV is also among the best 75 universities in Tourism. It is also among the best 150 universities in the world in Scientific and Technological Instrumentation, agricultural sciences, Health and Business; and among the best 200 universities in Physics, Chemistry, Energy Engineering, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Universitat de València is among the best 300 universities in Mathematics, Ecology, Atmospheric Sciences, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Chemical engineering, Nanotechnology and Nanoscience, Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Human Biology, Clinical Medicine, Odontology, Medical Technology, Economic Sciences, Education, Communication and Management.

Apart from Food Science Technology, Remote Sensing, Energy Engineering and Business, the Universitat de València is ranked among the best three universities in Spain in Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Human Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Health, Education and Tourism. It is also ranked the fourth best university in Ecology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy and Communication.
