Universitat de València leads the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) in Business Management, Atmospheric Sciences and Sociology

The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), or Shanghái Ranking by subjects, has confirmed that the Universitat de València (UV) is among the best of Spain. Of the 57 subject areas analysed in 2025, the academic institution is the first of Spain in Business Management and Administration, in Atmospheric Sciences and in Sociology, and is second in Food Science and Technology, Remote-sensing, Education, Management, Public Health, Clinic Medicine and Chemistry. In addition, in ten of the fields it is among the top five. As for the Valencian area, the Universitat de València is first in twenty-five. Worldwide, the UV is number 43 in remote sensing (which places it in the Top 50), and is among the top 100 in the world in three other fields of knowledge: Business Management, Food Science and Technology and Hotel and Tourism Management.
In the state-level, in addition to positions mentioned above, the Universitat de València has the third position in Dentistry and occupies the 3-8 position in Ecology, 4-5 in Physics and in Hotel and Tourism Management, 4-8 in Psychology, 4-11 in Nursing and 5-8 in Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Economics, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical sciences and Electric and Electronic Engineering. Moreover, the Universitat de València is among the ten best universities in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (6), in Earth Sciences and in Materials Science and Engineering (6-8), in Biological Sciences (6-9), in Biotechnology (7-10), in Human Biology (9-13) and in Agriculture Sciences (10-16).
On the scale of Valencia, UV is first in twenty-five subjects such as Biological Sciences, Earth Sciences, Materials Science and Engineering, Ecology, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Business Management, Psychology, Clinic Medicine, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Education, Health Public University, or Remote-sensing, among others.
Globally, it is also ranked 101-150 in Atmospheric Sciences and Dentistry.
The GRAS classifies the best institutions of the world in 57 disciplines distributed in five large areas: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences. The ranking is published by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy and the Universitat de València has been analysed in 29 of the subjects. The bibliometric data is collected in the Web of Science and InCites.
This ranking uses a number of indicators to measure the performance of universities: Q1 or number of publications in influential journals of the first quartile; CNCI or normalized citation impact, the ratio between the citations of articles published in a subject and the average citations of that subject; IC (level of international collaboration); TOP or number of articles published in the most important journals of an academic discipline; and AWARD or full-time staff who have obtained a significant award.
