The conference is the result of the work of the Chair for Digital Gender Gap, which promotes a series of activities to reduce the differences in access, training and employment in terms of the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) between men and women. In this way, the aim is to make the situation of the Digital Gender Gap in the Valencian Community visible and to analyse the challenges to close this gap.

This work is included in an annual report that is the result of the research effort of the entire team, entitled: “La brecha digital de género ¿una cuestión inexistente, intangible, ignorada o no asumida? Discursos sociales sobre la brecha digital en personas entre 18-45 años”, which will be presented by Silvia Rueda, director of the Chair for Digital Gender Gap.

Finally, to round off the conference, there will be a round table focused on analysing the perception of the gender digital divide among young people (18-45 years old) in the Valencian Community. Also on the different uses that men and women make of technology and their fears and phobias in this area, and how many of these harmful elements affect women much more than men. Focusing on the inequality generated by the digital divide and its relationship with gender-based violence. Naiara Bellio, journalist specialising in new technologies, digital culture and information society, coordinator of Maldita Tecnología at Maldita.es; Pablo Duchement, computer engineer, professor and legal expert, expert in crimes on social networks perpetrated by and against minors; Carmen Montalbá, Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Social Services who is part of the Iprodes research group, whose main lines of research focus on issues of social inequality; and Laura Bellver Carsí, freelance journalist specialising in innovation, equality and digital marketing, as well as communication with social impact, will participate on this table.

This round table will be moderated by Anabel Forte, Professor of the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the Universitat de València.

The conference will be closed by María Muñoz, General Director for the fight against digital divide, and a representative of the Universitat de València.

Attendance is free with prior registration, which can be done through the website go.uv.es/gencatic/jornadas2022.
