The Universitat de València recognises the excellence of the students with the highest marks in the PAU

The Universitat de València (UV) hosted the delivery of awards to students who obtained the highest marks in the Pruebas de Acceso a la Universidad (PAU). The act was driven by the Principal of the Universitat de València –Juan Luís Gandía–, who has been accompanied by the Vice-rector of Studies and Quality –Javier Roca–, the vice-rector of Students, Educational Transformation and Permanent Training –Rosa Bo–, and the coordinator of the PAU at the UV –professor Juan José Borrás.

This year, 130 students have obtained the diploma that recognises them as having one of the best records in the PAU or NAU –or both. It must be noted that the PAU is the mark of the Prueba de Acceso a la Universidad, which is only calculated with the five subjects of the mandatory phase, while the NAU is the Nota de Acceso a la Universidad, which is calculated with the 40 % of the PAU marks and the 60 % of the Baccalaureate’s marks.

The event, which took place at the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, gathered students, families, members of the secondary school centres and representatives of the university community. It was an event dedicated to recognise effort and academic talent. A wide representation of deans from different faculties of the Universitat de València also attended, along with the delegate for the UV Integration –M. José Lorente.

During the event, the Principal of the UV emphasised “the commitment, perseverance, and the capacity of self-improvement” of the distinguished students. Moreover, he underlined the rigorousness of this academic year and these tests. He also highlighted the “talent, discipline, perseverance, the capacity of overcoming difficulties and the disposition to keep learning” that these students have shown.

Gandía also addressed the important role of teachers and educational centres for the success. The Principal dedicated some words to teachers of every educational stage, who are precisely the ones who have contributed to spark the interest of students stage after stage, even overcoming, in some cases, difficult situations. Gandía’s words won the applause of the audience. The Principal also talked about the commitment of the University with these teachers, and he recalled the institutional declaration of the Governing Council supporting the educational community’s demands in the recent teachers’ strike. Gandía claimed that education is essential for social cohesion, equality of opportunities and collective progress.

The recognitions are within an initiative consolidated at the Universitat de València that, year after year, values academic excellence in new students. In this edition, a total of 130 students have been awarded. All of them obtained a mark of 9 or higher in the mandatory phase of the PAU. These days, they are making the pre-registration to the university, in a context in which the UV continues broadening and adapting its academic offer. Students belong to 63 educational centres, both public and privates, of València’s province.

In this sense, the 2026-2027 academic year incorporates four new degrees: Degree in Archaeology, Double Degree in Archaeology and History, Double Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, and Double Degree in Law and International Relations.

With this expansion of the academic offer, the Universitat de València reinforces its commitment to a quality, innovative, and connected training to the environment, while it continues supporting academic excellence as a central part of its activity.

The act concluded with the diploma’s delivery to the recognised students and an institutional photo, in a session that emphasizes the value of effort and merit as cornerstones of the university career.
