It is formed by the Tribunal de las Aguas, the Spanish government (delegation in the Valencian Community), the Valencian Government, the Valencian Provincial Council, the City Hall of Valencia, the Universitat de València and the Universitat Politècnica de València. The meeting has permitted to improve the organization of the plan of activities and commemorative events in 2019 to honour the Tribunal de las Aguas de Valencia. It has been responsible for more than a millennia of preserving the fair use and distribution of water in the Valencian orchards. It was declared on 30th September 2009 Intangible Cultural Patrimony of the Unesco.  The Universidad de Valencia, by means of the Office of the Vice-principal for Territorial Projection and Society, will conduct the technical administrative procedures of these initiatives.

The Vice-principal for Territorial Projection and Society, Jorge Hermosilla, explained that the Universitat de València will contribute to the organization of several activities alongside with the Tribunal de las Aguas and other institutions. Some of the activities are the International Water Conference on 13th and 14th June 2019 and around 20 formative sessions of the territory of the Valencian Community. “The Tribunal de las Aguas is part of the patrimony of all the Valencians. This is the reason why the Universitat, thanks to its experts, will organise symposiums in the Valencian Community so that the Valencians can know more about the Tribunal and the importance of the Valencian water landscapes. They are a source of identity, biodiversity, agrodiversity and a strategic resource for economic sustainability for the irrigating communities and towns,” indicated the Vice-principal.

The President of the Tribunal de las Aguas, José Font, was pleased with the institutional support and indicated that the plan of activities that was being designed between the institutions aimed to widen the impact of the commemoration and make internationally visible the cultural and environmental values of the Valencian traditional irrigation culture, promote the exchange of experiences with other managing bodies of the intangible patrimony recognised by the Unesco, stand out the history of the Tribunal de las Aguas and explore its image as an international model for the resolution of problems concerning the distribution of water.”
