The Universitat de València wins the national final of the international universities competition sponsored by Konica Minolta

The Universitat de València has won the national phase to select the team that will represent Spain in the final international phase of Konica Minolta International University Contest. (https://iuc.konicaminolta.eu/)

The aim of this international contest is to encourage higher education institutions to take advantage of the talent of their students to cooperate and contribute to the creation of a digital campus and increase the quality of its services.

The jury awarded the prize to the team of the Universitat de València ‘Healthy Coach’. The project develops a mobile application that aims to improve the service in the university cafeterias and to help to introduce healthy habits (diet and sport) in the academic community.

The final of the national phase of the Konica Minolta International University Contest has been celebrated last March 21 in the living-lab facilities for social innovation of the Universitat de València at the Research Institute Building of Campus Tarongers, SocInnoLAB (https://www.uv.es/socinnolab/).

The winner team will have the opportunity to enjoy a three day trip in Amsterdam at the end of April (20, 21 and 22). There, they will represent the Universitat de València and Spain, participating in the international phase of Konica Minolta International University Contest. In the final, they will compete against students of universities such as Netherlands, South Africa, USA, Hungary and Senegal.

Healthy Coach is composed by Eva Romero (Faculty of Law), Nicolás Madera (Faculty of Teacher Training), Gabi Musterova (Faculty of Psychology), José Priego (Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences) and Carmen Carceller (Faculty of Pharmacy).

The teams presented their projects to a jury composed by Carlos Rodríguez, business developer manager Southern Europe at Hyland, creator of OnBase; Clemente Morales Gutiérrez, professor of Business Management and Administration Degree at Florida University; and Manuel Arróniz, business development manager, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe GmbH.

The participation of the UV students has been possible to the call of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Studies and Linguistic Policy. This has allow them to participate in the training programme ‘Waving Ideas’ of the Living SocInnoLAB of the Universitat de València that coordinates the Policies for Excellence Office (OPEX): (www.uv.es/opex)
