The Universitat hosts pre-university students and their families at the Oen Days

More than a thousend and three hundred people participated in the second edition of the Open Days at the Universitat de València, an activity aimed at pre-university students and their families to learn about the academic offerings, the services, and the facilities at the different centres. The event hosted at the university campuses on 24 April, is included in the Conèixer la Universitat programme, and it is aimed to ease decision-making on a key moment for pre-university students.

During the visits, members of the deans’ teams of the faculties and the management of the ETSE-UV welcomed the participants and explained them the educational offerings and the general of each faculty or school. Counting with University students’ support, guided tours were conducted throughout the facilities, which made it easier to learn first-hand about the resources and spaces available at the Universitat. Additionally, there were dialogue spaces to answer questions both educational and administrative. Each visitor received a guide, edited by the Information and Promotion Service for Students (Sedi), which gathers the degrees offered at the visited centre and practical information on access and admission to university, as well as answers to the most frequent questions.

The Open Days received a highly positive review by the attendees. According to the survey conducted to gauge the response to the activity, more than 97% of the interviewees rate both the content and the opening talk as very good. People in charge for the visit obtained a 97,2% of positive reviews, and facilities a 91%. Moreover, 99% of those surveyed recommend organising again the activity, and 87% believes that the visit will influence their choice of university studies.  

Regarding attendance, the Faculty of Economics attracted the greatest number of people to learn about the degrees it offers, followed by the faculties of Biological Sciences, Pharmacy and Food Sciences, Law, and Physics.

The second edition of the Open Days included the following facilities from the Universitat de València:
•    Blasco Ibáñez Campus: faculties of Physical Activities and Sport Sciences, Philology, Translation and Communication, Philosophy and Educational Sciences, Physiotherapy, and Geography and History.
•    Burjassot Campus: School of Engineering (ETSE-UV) and faculties of Biological Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Pharmacy and Food Sciences, Physics, and Chemistry.
•    Tarongers Campus: faculties of Social Sciences, Law, Economics, and Teacher Training.
•    Ontinyent Campus: the degrees in Business Administration and Management (ADE), Physical Activity and Sport Science, Nursing, and Preschool Education.

The Open Days at the Universitat are an initiative of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Studies and Quality and they were possible thanks to the involved teams from the fifteen centres taking part in the initiative to make it easier for people interested in studying University degrees to make a well-informed decision. The event counted with the cooperation of Academic Trajectories and the coordination of the Information and Promotion Service for Students (Sedi).

The Conèixer la Universitat programme also includes the Guided visits to the Universitat, aimed at secondary schools and higher vocational training, that come with their students so that they learn about the degrees and facilities of the UV. Additionally, the Conference on Information, aimed at guidance counsellors, was held as a space for meeting and updating.
