The film-maker Mabel Lozano, author and director of the documentary and book “El Proxeneta”; the researcher Raquel Rosario, who researches on the behaviour of whoremongers in fora and social media; and the sociologist and gender expert Beatriz Ranea will participate on Wednesday 26th September in a new cycle of the debates “La Nau de la Igualtat”. Entrance will be free but seating will be limited.

The event will start at 6 p.m. at the Cultural Centre La Nau between two important dates in September: the 23th (International Day against the Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking) and 28th September (International Day for the Sexual and Reproductive Rights).

Mabel Lozano will show some fragments of the documentaries that she has recorded on this issue such as “El Proxeneta”, in which she explains for the first time truth behind prostitution thanks to the accounts of a privileged witness, Miguel, a procurer that has confessed exhaustively how prostitution has changed in Spain.

The researcher Beatriz Ranea will explain some of the conclusions of her research on the customers of prostitution: the data and numbers of young sex consumers (18-35 years old).

Finally, the researcher Raquel Rosario Sánchez, who usually writes in La Marea and Tribuna Feminista, will present the results of a research on the masculinities of whoremongers, the dynamics and behaviours of men who use fora and virtual communities to interact.

The conference was presented and moderated by the journalist and president of the Unió de Periodistes Noa de la Torre, Noa de la Torre. The conference is included in the cycle “La Nau de la Igualtat”, which is presented as a space to argue about the key points of feminism. It aims to achieve a consensus that fosters social equalitarian fight and conquest.
