‘Emergents' has the collaboration of the Youth Department of the Valencia City Council and is aimed at supporting socio-cultural interventions organized by entities or groups that are carried out in the municipality of Valencia. These social and cultural initiatives will each receive a maximum of 4,000 euros to develop activities related to the fields of performing arts, education, urban planning and / or visual arts. On this occasion, and given the state of alarm, the resolution of the award of prizes has been made by video conference.

The 8 winning proposals stand out both for their diversity of activities and for their location in different parts of the city.

Valentiae Labyrinthus' is based on the use of the educational escape room in order to promote social and cultural inclusion in the municipality of Valencia, specifically in the Nazareth and Quatre Carreres districts.

There are four projects based on the plastic arts. 'Sliding Libray', which will be developed in the Orriols neighbourhood and aims to rescue the documentary and oral memory of Els Orriols. Walls are the printing press of the people' consists of carrying out a collective mural intervention that allows us to delve into spatial relations with the periphery, in the La Torre neighbourhood. While 'Critic/Citric', from Benicalap, proposes an artistic intervention in the urban environment using the orange tree as an element to attract attention, while 'Sustainability 3F 0.2' deals with the environmentalist problem through the arts.

In this edition of 'Emergents' also have been awarded projects related to urban planning, social sciences and music. Thus, 'Places Vives', which will be held in Ciutat Vella, proposes a day of activities in the squares to jointly reflect on the recovery of public space as a space for neighbourhood coexistence. Grinot' invites you to promote the vegetable garden and its surroundings, from the Benicalap district and, finally, 'La Torre Conta al Caribe Occupational Centre' is based on the development of musical skills through modern music aimed at groups with functional diversity, from the La Torre district.

The four projects that have been awarded runner-up prizes without financial support are a laboratory for creation and "eco-poetic" generational exchange in the La Saidia neighbourhood, a fanzine workshop against racism and sexism in El Grao, a photographic project in Benicalap that aims to prevent discrimination, violence and any symbol of intolerance and 'Create your own country', a pedagogical proposal that aims to promote the integration and social inclusion of children in the Nou Moles neighbourhood.

Since 2016, 120,000 euros have been granted to 37 projects aimed at promoting social and cultural inclusion in various neighborhoods of the city of Valencia through the performing arts, pedagogy, urban planning and visual arts among vulnerable groups and with the aim of raising awareness about the value of cultural education to encourage change.

Emergents' forms part of Nau Social, a line of action of the Vice-rectorate of Culture and Sport that includes different programmes to make culture more accessible, reduce inequalities through socio-cultural intervention and channel spontaneous cultural impulses.
