The Paraninfo of the historic building of La Nau hosted on Thursday the fifth edition of the delivery of the 'Meninas’ Distinctions awarded by the Delegation of the Government that recognises the commitment and work against violence against women.

The Universitat de València hosted on Thursday, November 28th, the delivery ceremony of the distinctions 'Meninas' against violence against women. These distinctions are granted to individuals, associations, entities and institutions that stand out for their contribution to the prevention and eradication of the different types of violence against women and their children, in the care, assistance, protection and recovery of victims.

In this edition, the distinctions were given to the graphic humourist Diana Raznovich; the Head of Group Y of UFAM in Alicante, Verónica Gómez; the magistrate of the Court of First Instance number 4 in Sueca, José Luis Mendoza; the Commissioner of the Municipal Police of Valencia, Estefania Navarrete; the head of the UOPJ of the Command of Castelló, Francisco Javier Ayuso; and the President of the State Council, María Teresa Fernández de la Vega, a distinction collected on her behalf by Rosa Peris, deputy of the Valencian Parliament.

These distinctions are framed within the acts for the 25th of November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, date in which the Universitat has shown its commitment through initiatives such as the concentration of five minutes of silence for the victims of gender violence or the recent Espais Violeta (Violet Points) that have been inaugurated in the different faculties and centres to support any person from the university community who needs help; initiatives promoted by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Equality, Diversity and Sustainability, in line with the 4th Plan for Equality.

Some of the authorities that attended were the Delegate of the Government in the Comunitat Valenciana, Juan Carlos Fulgencio; the Principal of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre; the president of the High Court of Justice of the Comunitat Valencia, Pilar de la Oliva; the Regional Secretary of Cooperation of the Generalitat Valenciana, Belén Cardona; the president of the Consell Jurídic Consultiu, Margarita Soler; as well as outstanding figures of the military and police fields.
